Abell 31 is a planetary nebula in the Cancer constellation. It is also known as Sh2-290 and PK 219+31.1.
Image taken using the 32-inch Schulman telescope with STX camera on Mt. Lemmon, AZ. Data capture and reduction by Adam Block, University of Arizona representing about 21 hours of total time exposure through clear, H-alpha, red, green, and blue pass filters.
Thereafter I enhanced the H-alpha master using pixel math and blended it with the red channel using CCDStack, with subsequent L(R+Ha)GB processing using CCDStack and Photoshop CS5.
