NGC 3239 is an irregular galaxy in the Leo constellation. Image shows NGC 3239 with numerous other galaxies.
Note the apparent tight cluster of 3 stars below and to the right of the very bright star superimposed upon the main galaxy; the object in that triad closest to the main star is actually in NGC 3239, unlike the other stars, and is a supernova known as SN2012A.
Image taken using the 32-inch Schulman telescope with STX camera on Mt. Lemmon, AZ. Data capture and reduction by Adam Block, University of Arizona. LLRGB processing by JDS using CCDStack and Photoshop CS5.
